A Legend

Glamis Castle was reportedly first situated at the Hill of Denoon and was said to have been built in the 11th century.  The site of the proposed castle was seen as an area of mythical legends and the home of elfins and fairies. Legend has it that at the start of human occupation the Queen of the fairies entered into a pact with the Devils to drive out the humans. During the night, the first foundations were demolished and scattered down the hill.  Further stronger walls were built but these too were destroyed so it was decided to build the castle on its present site.
